Dark-field computed tomography
In Germany, around 6.8 million people are affected by COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary desease) – the numbers are rising every year and show that, on average, one in eight adults will develop COPD in their lifetime. Worldwide, the lung disease is estimated to affect 210-340 million people. It involves the partial or complete destruction of air sacs in the lungs, resulting in lung swelling.
A new X-ray procedure is now designed to make changes in the alveolar structure attributable to the lung disease COPD visible at early stages. Have you heard of dark-field computed tomography? Read more about it in our current arcoro SNAPS issue.
