DIN EN ISO 22870

ISO standard 22870 specifies the guidelines that apply to near-patient examinations. The standard usually occurs together with ISO standard 15189. DIN EN ISO 22870 is applied when so-called point-of-care testing is performed in a clinic or other medical facility. Point-of-care testing is defined as an examination on a patient in which laboratory medical activities are carried out in direct spatial and temporal proximity. It is any form of rapid testing. The ISO standard focuses on the technical requirements of the laboratory, the management of the laboratory and quality management issues. In addition to the selection of laboratory equipment and methods, this also includes staff training and regular operational quality controls.
