Active Implantable Medical Device (AIMD)

An active implantable medical product (AIMD) is a product that is added in whole or partly to the human body. It is done through a medical or surgical procedure. The medical device is implanted in order to remain there for an indefinite period of time, or at least 30 days. Products in this category and their component parts are controlled by the strict regulations of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
