Biohybrid materials

Biohybrid materials represent a combination of biological and chemical building blocks. This material mix of DNA and polymers offers increased functionality and better biocompatibility. Biohybrid materials are mainly used in the context of implants and sensors, as well as a base material for bone, cartilage, and vascular walls. Researchers hope that hybrid materials will offer great development opportunities in the medical sector, as they could provide for fewer complications and physical rejection reactions in the future due to their better organic compatibility, while at the same time being more robust due to the chemical component.
